This is a photo taken today of my heifer, she's an April 1st out of Perfect Timing and a Hoosier Hot Shot Cow. The judge told me he thought that she was ideal and had a very nice design, but majorly faulted her on her lack of size and length.
What do you guys think?

From the picture I can't really tell on the frame size, but the body length sure looks good to me. How did the cattle placed above you look?

one man's (or woman's) opinion. I wouldn't take it to harshly, she is pretty sweet.

They were just bigger, fatter. Neither of them were very stylish I didn't think. Just good structured bigger heifers..

Gosh, I love her!  Looks like a breeding heifer to me.  Nowadays it's hard to tell the "breeding" heifers from the steers....

Just wait until she's a cow. Her momma isn't big, but I'd say she's one of the best cows around.  Your heifer is easy doing, stout, feminine, and not FAT.  I wish you could show her where she was born, because she would do very well.

I agree with Goodnight--take that judges opinion with a grain of salt.  It's just that...his opinion.  I think she's a pretty nice looking heifer.  My January heifer last year got buried in the middle of her class at two county fairs by judges who placed the big ones at the top then placed the rest.  I only really took offense at getting beat by one of them (she was definately bigger, but that was about it), he could make a reasonable argument for the other two in my opinion.  At the third fair, my heifer beat them all! <party>

Same thing happened to me at my fair, but with a steer. It sucks,  but you have to shake it off. As long as your happy with her, thats all that matters :)

Some judge's will say the stupidest things when they don't have anything else to say. Let it go, she is a heck of a nice looking hiefer.

If his opinion really starts to bother you, feel free to drop her off at my place.  I'll gladly take her of your hands and deal with her "shortcomings"! ;) (lol)

haha I think I'll just keep her around here actually. I still like her no matter what. That'd be great if I could get her over your way and show her Justin..

I too agree with Goodnight. Referring to size is an easy out for some judges. The really good judges do not use size unless they are just not good performers, but your heifer is not in that category. You just had a bad judge. Nice looking heifer.
