We just got this heifer on Tues she came from SD and she looked  like a ragamuffin when we got her. He hair was such a mess and she has patches of missing hair all over her neck. Her face and neck were clipped some what. She is very green and needs a lot of TLC. She is an Aug. 09  Witch Dr x Cunia. I would like to hear everyone thinks of her. I am posting some pics of her after her first bath and the some after we started clipping on her. We did not clip the head and neck she came that way someone else did that. When she first came off the trailer she looked like she had dreadlocks and my daughter was about in tears. Since then we have decsided we like her its just going to take some work. She does have a wonderful disposition. I will update again so everyone can see how she looks after some TLC and feed.

no tears.  I think underneath all that hair is a good heifer.  you mentioned her neck, that's one thing I like about her, extension of neck, hard to tell but structure looks okay and I agree, 60 days on feed, rinsing, blowing, I'd like to see you post another pic then, I think you're going to like what you've got.  I really like those that you think are good, bring 'em home and they get better every day.  I think in 60 days you'll be very proud of her.  Good Luck.

Have to agree, nothing wrong with that heifer a little time, feed and TLC won't fix.  Your heifer has really nice depth with a good square hip, she appears to have plenty of flex, I think with a little work you'll be suprised what you have on your hands.

Nice little hfr there guys -- wait till you get her in shape !!

By the way, that lunp you described in your earlier post is better seen on this post -- that kind of lump will only be caused by one of tw things -- A possible broken or severely bruised rib -- OR -- a really realy P""" poor job of vaccinating -- most likely with Clostridium or Ivomec. If it feels really soft, I'd bet on the later! Your vet will be able to tell for sure -- and best of luck!

Thanks for the comments. I wish had taken a picture before we washed her. Her hair was such a mess its amazing what a little water and soap can do.

Get a big ol feed bucket and some hay in front of her and she'll look like a champ in no time!!! And it looks like you do a darn good job with the hair so I'm sure in about two months or so she'll be in the hunt for some purple, I think she could do good at your fair!

The basics for a good heifer are all there. Just add feed and some TLC and I think you will be pleasantly surprised. She has a great hip, and a full quarter while it is easy to see she is pretty green in condition. Hope you post some pictures after a few weeks on feed and on a regular basis. I think it would be a great help to many young people to identify a good heifer when she is in this condition. You don't have to be real smart to figure out the real good ones when they are fitted and clipped to 12 o'clock as calves. Finding the gems in the rough and making them into diamonds is where the real rewards come from.

It looks like with some time and feed and little more clipping she won't look too bad. She doesn't look that bad at all. All the right parts are there.

I will post pictures at 30 days and then at 60days. I think this will be a real good learning experience for her and her friends. Her friends all though she was awfulling looking when they saw and could not beleive she would buy a heifer that loked like that. I told to just wait and give her some TLC and her ugly duckling will become a beautiful swan.  She is use to always getting calves that come all clipped up and have been on feed for some time.

I think she looks nice.  Like everyone else said, a little time on feed, and she'll look even nicer.  Can't wait to see new pics down the road!

I dont know where you are located but she looks REAL GOOD to be a few days off the trailer: the trees in the background look along way from the upper midwest.-and she  must have a good disposistion to respond so quickly to your daughter etc.-she has the pedigree and already (even being green) has the look of one that you could breed alot of ways. Feed bucket-rinse-etc etc. O0
