That is an awesome picture!  Great to see the young ones with the itch to work and contribute.

My daughter clipped out her first head and neck on her last years show heifer.... this years future momma.  We have a show in two weeks and she will be doing all the fitting on that heifer too!  She is an excited 10 y/o.  Had to drag the camera out for a little "documentation".... or bribery.  (thumbsup)

I learned to clip on dairy heifers.  My dad would use masking tape and mark where to use the clippers and then he would help us blend.  It was great training.  I brought in a couple of steers for my kids to practice on this summer.  They did pretty well and with a little more practice they would have been fine.  Time with clippers in hand will make you better.  Then a clinic where they know what they are doing will make you good.

Thanks for the comments.  Every time we get a calf in the chute, Gavin(7) insists on helping with the clipping.  I  tie  a halter under the neck to make it safer for him.  It's good practice to get them comfortable with the clippers at a young age.

Thanks for posting the picture Jamie.

Ok its great that Dad is so proud of the work ethic and all but I bet MOM is beaming with pride over his fashion sense. That outfit he has on is awesome.

(lol) Thanks for the laugh Frostback, I needed that.  That was one of the first things I thought of when I seen this posted on here.  I am sure that picture will show up on a picture display for graduation some day.

I have one that looks just like that. The other day we had cows out so I made the call for everyone to get out here and he showed up in boxer shorts and cowboy boots. They are special at that age. Too bad I did not have a camera handy.
