Thought I would share some observations from the Nebraska Cattlemans Classic this last week.

1.  The Charlolais Champion Bull was raised by close friends, The Fred Ranch and a Maternal Brother to the fall Carnac calf that I posted a video of.  Purchased by a Charolais Breeder from Kentucky.
2.  Champion Sim Female- A Red Moderate extremely angular Bred female from South Dakota.  She calved the night before the show and they had her looking great considering.
3.  The Pregancies were the hot item in the Royal Ice Sale.  They were mostly old Angus Bloodlines.
4.  The numbers were clear down but the classic benefited from quality as the gross sales of each breed were up!
5.  Judges don't always know,  Champion Shorthorn brought over $ 4,000, Reserve was around $ 1,400 and the next one in the sale ring brought I believe $7,000 and purchase by Lautner Farms.
6. Dogs, Horses, Limi's and Char's were hotter selling than normal.
7.  Record selling Pen of 5 Heifers: Wagonhammer Ranch for $5,100 per Hd.
8. Some interesting Live Displays
    A.  Lee Cattle Co. had 4 hd on display- Moderate Angus Bulls that will sell on their sale, Very impressive.
    B.  Green Valley Cattle Co.- Maine Bulls Displayed for their sale- Impressive set of Bulls that represent the Breed Very Well.
    C. Trausch Farms had Eye Candy on Display: If you liked him in Denver you should see him now!
9. Champion Chi/Maine Bull was A Bold Statement X Harrietta: Most Bold Statements I've seen are short on hair, Not this guy!

Thanks for the report. I always liked their event up there. The Kansas Beef expo struggles with teir deal so much maybe we should learn from the huskers.

Aj, selling cattle at the NCC is expensive, especially for out of state folks. We sold up there a few years ago and buy the time we paid our NCA, NSA, blocking chute fees and bedding plus commission, gas hotel and such there wasn't a whole lot of money left over. The thing I like about the KBE is you know what you are getting into and the sale expense is next to nothing. If you go to the KBE with the right type of heifer and the right mind set you will be pleased.
