Having being from Oklahoma and the many years of showing at OKC,you are in for the competition of your life! Besides all of the "smaller"breeders and kids with just one maine calf, you will deal with the big boys. To name just a few would be anything that comes from Walter cattle company, Griswold cattle company,Buck cattle company,DJ'S cattle company and a host of others. When it comes to Maines and Maintainers,it doesn't get any tougher than OKC period.

There will be well over 100 head in the Maine and Maintainer shows.  They show on Tuesday and they only show 2 breeds per ring on Tuesday.  Usually the largest breeds.  If you have never shown in OKC, you are in for a fun experience.  The new facilities are excellent and the show management is one of the best I have ever worked with.  I showed at my first one in 1976, and haven't missed many since.  Good Luck.

We had a maintainer last year ( they accidently entered her as a main even though her papers were clear)  The main class was about 14. The ag teacher said we would do better in the main because competition would be less . We didn't do any good any way.  Not last but not anywhere near first. It is good to go and just compete. Have fun.

Your Ag teacher must be nuts.  The Mainetainer show at OKC is very good, but not near as tough as the high % show.
