PB Charolais- What to flush this cow to?

I want better everything for thid cow.  Since you want to build a cow herd any bull I would use has to be high on milk as well as growth.  The milk EDP concern is mostly about marketing since marketing cattle with a negative milk EPD is tough.  If calving ease is a concern I would use M6 New Standard or LT Ledger.  If you can tolerate more birth weight I would be looking at the ABS Bull Firemaker, Sparrows Birmingham 758T (semex), or Cornerview Xcalibre (Genex).  I know some people do not like Buddy Cobb cattle due to birth weight converns but these two are rather moderate.  Other bulls worth a look include SR/NC field Rep and JDJ Smokester (good milk and REA).  Here are some bulls that will give you what you need to improve performance and marketability.

I'm leaning more towards LT Ledger, it seems like his name pops up a lot when talking about Charolais, I also looked up M6 New Standard and liked him just not as we'll as Ledger.

I also some day planned on buying some other PB cows that already have good numbers so I can start off on the right foot other than trying to start out fixing everything, I think the cow in the picture will produce nice PB offspring but like you said it would be harder to market them without good numbers.

I think if I flushed her to firewater I could still market them as show cattle and not all show cattle have to have good numbers to sell well, maybe that's not the right attitude but its true and later on I can breed her to ledger and see what happens

Something noticed by an old timer at this, 2-3 years ago FIREWATER was just as hot or hotter  than  LT LEDGER  is now ....I used both of them ,will get LEDGER calves next year and have used Firewater some for 2-3 years ....Had a heifer that a young lady showed her to class winner last year in NE. at the National junior show against about 15  other entry's ....This was exciting ,but Firewater don't do this all the time and you can get a big one at birth and I'm maybe extremely critical  about birth ...All  my years I have never seen a good looking dead one ....With the desire and knowledge we can raise great clubby calves with acceptable birth weights that are just as good as any calf showing ....My experience Monopoly has done that for me, I don't use him on heifers ....The Charolais breed has finally figured out that it is possible to raise growth cattle with acceptable birth weights ,we sell Charolais bulls to some commercial breeders who put them on black & blk-white face heifers , faster  growing  calves than ANGUS sired calving ease bulls and not all Angus bulls sold are calving ease bulls .....


MY main thought is that some of these super hot sires in all breeds don't turn out or pass the test of time with more use and in the real world ...SHOWING cattle isn't done like in the  "real world "  .  but is a very respectable way of making a living and doing what you enjoy doing ....

Not to hijack this thread but what do you guys know about Lead On ( troubadours dad)? One of the best cross bred hfrs I saw sell last fall was out of him. I was just curious if anyone else had any input on him. I did a search on here and didn't get much info.

New Standard is a good bull for growth and is backed by some great maternal genetics. I watched him sell as a yearling and thought he was a pretty nice bull. but after being around his calves I really loved the extra growth they had. I have also been around several Field Reps they carry plenty of performance and have a nice show ring look. Call Eric Dennis in Saint Jo Tx. He owns part of him and his daughter showed many great females out of him.

Sounds like LT RIO BRAVO  3181 would work good if you can find the semen .....
Got some of the old Cigar bull semen from Debruckers ..

RIO  BRAVO HAS THEM EXTRA DEEP SOGGGY females ,used him on strong polled cow cause he can throw scurs ...Our herd bull a son of him  got scurs after a year old ...but has the extra capacity and growth with live able birth weights.....
