How do the grow, Freddy?  I saw several of his calves <3mnths old-at the M6 dispersal in '10.  Compared to the other calves there-other purebreds- the bluegrass calves were tiny. Just much flatter and plainer than I would have expected from CHAROLAIS.  I also question when I hear of a bluegrass calf growing really well.  It seemed to me,  at the time, that the biggest cows in the herd were bred to him- in an attempt to downsize them (considerably.)  My opinion is that growth out of bluegrass calves has to be accredited to the dam side.

Good looking bull. His front 2/3rds are about as good as it gets! Notice the forerib and heart and how his chest floor is nearly the same depth as his brisket attachment.  That is ideal.  I'd like to level his hip and put some flex in his rear legs -overall - a much more extended bull than bluegrass.

Have to agree with MARK on his two bulls now a little more ....Notice how they both have LT RIO BRAVO in their pedigrees , more capacity & marbling along with birth and acceptable milk ....The Effertz  cattle are short on milk & not much marbling .....Looks like the Charolais breeders have had enough long gutted cattle & one trait in mind on their cattle selection ....The cattle business  is like most ball teams you need a complete team , EPD'S are the cats MEOW  ,but why for years, we have only used one or two of them ....

To be a complete team, you need SPECIALIZED skill players.  The traits I desire in my pitcher aren't the same as those I desire in the short stop.  Same as with Terminal sires, same with easy fleshing dams.

Freddy,

Effertz are now putting more emphasis on maternal traits than in years past.  Keys Allstate is out of a Dam of Distiction, did well at a few shows, and has good numbers to boot.  Also an outcross to  LT Rio Bravo and Firewater lines:http://genex.crinet.com/beef/index.php?action=DETAIL&code=1CH00962
