Personal milestone

As of today, I am 13 years of being cancer free! Each year gets more important to me. It also gives others hope that they can both beat breast cancer & live a long wonderful life.

Some of you have been wondering how I've been doing healthwize. I think I'm finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I've gone 2 weeks without passing out & 1 week without a fall. Most of the bruises are fading. I also got a good checkup yesterday. We went to a dinner & movie last night, it was our local John Deere's customer night.  ;D It felt so good!
I'm setting a goal of going to the Ohio Beef Expo in mid March. I especially want to go w/ Nelson's bring a Joe son for display. (JBH- cheery pie has been suggested)

Also today is my favorite Maine-Anjou princess's birthday. Danielle Funk is 11! Hint- her mom's is Sunday but I won't tell her age!

Glad to hear, my dad has prostate cancer when I was a kid and it scares me to death.  I am just glad he caught it early and went to Mayo to get it taken care of.  It is something that I am going to have to be very proactive about myself.  My older sister also had trouble, but everything is ok today.

Come to think of it, I should be celebrating about 12 years of being without cancer since my second bout with it 1997!
Kinda, makes some of the other concerns in life seem pretty trivial doesn't.  Every member of my immediate family has fought cancer at one time or another(two of them lost their battle)and every time I hear someone has had a similar experience I understand how debilitating this disease can be to a whole family--physically and emotionally.  I guess its a good sign that I don't think about it every day, I hope the same is true for you!

Congratulations!!  Keep your chin up, Yours arms around those you love, and your eyes on the Lord and you'll be amazed what you can overcome!!    Here's wishing you many, many more years of cancer free good health and God speed getting over your current challenges!!

My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer when I was a year old in 1962 she died when I was 11. Man o' man how I wish that she had today's technology available to her. She'd be here to see what amazing grand kids she has!
I've been extremely proactive and have had several body parts removed. Don't care.............I'm still cancer free and have been married for 20 years, great husband, kids and of course cows!!!!!

I took over for you in the falling and bruising category Red.  5 feet from my front door I wiped out on the ice.  One of those falls that you are on your back before you even know you are going.  My elbow is turning a lovely purple and my ribs and hip bone are very sore.  Luckily I had my insulin pump strapped to the front of me or it would have been crushed, like my phone was.

On the good side, we had our first calf born yesterday and the second today so we are off and running.  The one yesterday I know is going to lose part of his ears.  She had him sometime in the night and they had to have froze immediately since the thermometer was showing 4 degrees.  He didn't want me to touch them today so I am sure they aren't going to be all there.

My wife, who is 36, was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.  She had a double mastectomy in December and is currently going through chemo.  The prognosis is good, but it has been a very scary and tough time for us.  We have a 6 and 3 year old and was never expecting anything like this.  It is encouraging to know you are a survivor and I hope and pray that we can say the same thing in 13 years.

Good luck with everything and my prayers are with you.

Cathy- VERY glad to hear that you're finally making some impressive progress with your recovery.  I know that the winter months are the hardest to recover during because you can't even sit on the front porch and watch everything, being cooped up inside all the time is no fun!  If you keep this string of good behaviour up, I won't have to ship out rolls of bubble tape for your Hubby to wrap you in to keep you from bumping yourself up!  Keep it up, I know it's a long road but I PROMISE that once you get yourself straightened out, it gets easier every day!

my mom is a 27 year survivor w/ having cancer in both breasts a year apart. I really hound my sisters to get mammograms. My mom was tested & luckily she does not carry the gene BRCA 1 or 2.

my prayers are w/ her & your family. I was very lucky that we caught it very early. I didn't have to go through any treatments. I do regret not getting a double mastectomy. i didn't have reconstructed surgery & don't mind being flat chested rather that off kilter!  :
