DL- after the comments on BW from the c-section expert  ??? I wondered- was this at a teaching college or a vet clinic? How many PHA calves has she delievered?

thanks,
Red

I love arm chair quarterbacks  - particularly those with the luxury of total contol over the situation -  this vet has probably delivered more PHA calves than most other vets in the country - it is a bit like the difference between a planned abdominal surgery and a train wreck

I noticed in genetic horizons catalog that in the Charolais section there were two bulls listed that were thf with pha pending. What does that mean. Is it kinda like the angus bull griz who throws horned calves or what? (dog)

i just got the sek catalog too.

noticed one "straight" angus bull from scotland

perhaps one reason you see a revival in some angus linebreeding is to eliminate some defects

also noted only one bull had gene star data posted, although not by gene. :(

I can't seem to find a shorthorn list on pha carriers. I guess Windstar,Suds and doulblestuff are the main lines to watch. The asa website lists th but not pha on a list.

Maybe they don't list it  because shorthorns don't carry the PHA gene. ;D

SRU...I don't know what the officials say but yes there is no doubt in my mind. He goes back to windstar. I know a guy who had a suds pha defective calf. I raised a homegrown son of suds and had 3 daughters or granddaughters test pha carrier.
