Thought I would put a picture on here of the steer right before he went into the ring.  He was in the first class, the lightweights.  He was weighing right at 1100 Lbs at the time of the show.  When I looked around at her class, I could not find a bad Angus anywhere....tough competition!!  He showed well and there were 36 in the class, my daughter ended up getting 12th place.  Only the top ten make it to the sale, so it was kind of tough that we were two out from the sale. But, I was really proud of my daughter and the steer!

We ended up bringing the steer home, and my daughter and I also brought the Fort Worth flu home with us!!  We will now slick him off and show him in Houston, he should still be a lightweight by then ( I hope)!  The weather in Fort Worth was terrible the whole week....still had a great time up until we got the flu!

Comments are welcome if you have any...good or bad!!  (thumbsup)

Wow I would say he's a real nice steer for 12th place...must of been some real good ones in the Angus division.

Beautiful animal.  Wishing you good luck in Houston!  We feel your pain at our house.  Oldest son was in class 2 light weight exotic.  70-80 in his class.  He was pulled and ended up placing 14 out of 22 pulled.  Doing the same...slicking him (the steer, not the boy)  and rolling on to Houston.  At least we know the weather wont be as bad in Houston on March 7!  LOL!  Only thing we really have to worry about weather wise is rain.  Maybe I should knock on some wood since I mentioned rain!

Thank you Mrs. Sawboss...looking forward to seeing you in Houston!!  :)

It was very tough up there and good luck in Houston...BTW my wife and daughter came home with the barn flu as well... :-\

Thanks rackrack...sorry that your wife and daughter got the Fort Worth flu too!!  It sure is a nasty flu to have!

glad i didnt get sick, there was some MAJOR competiton in that angus show (i guess thats why its a major show) and 12th place is nothing to be ashamed of. we left our calf up there and loaded him on the trailer. good luck to yall in houston!

Your calf looks like he'll slick very well.  The trick at Fort Worth in the Angus is trying to get one classified and still have the hair. I'd suggest you just keep pushing him - but I bet he's a medium wt at Houston.  You should still be sitting just fine.

Thanks Chambero!  We are going to keep pushing him...I guess whichever class he falls in will be okay, I was just hoping the lightweights because of his frame size....he is a little guy.  How did you end up doing, and sorry I did not run into you and your family...maybe Houston?
