Poll question #1 about open jackpot shows

Thanks for the feed back, I’m sure you would/will represent the Steer Planetears proudly.
I’m about 100% sure we will be having it. We just need to work out the date and a few other details.
In the past the show has been on the first Saturday in April but I would like to see it backed up to the 11th. 
Both Dover {a BEST points show} and Wood County have shows on the 4th so I think we may have a little better turn out if we backed it up weekend.
The down side to the 11th is that Easter is the 12th.
With you being a prospective participant at this show how would you feel about showing on the Saturday before Easter?

normally they dont start untill noon;

but it is kinda a good thing. since i dont live to far from the fairgrounds i dont think itll be too much of a hassle

This is from my perspective as a "Mom"...I travel umteen hours, a gazillion miles, help work with that calf for numerous hours...what harm does it do to wait another half hour to do showmanship?  If I'm in that big of a hurry to get out of there...I should have stayed home.  If they have showmanship its our rule you do it.  The kid and the calf do not get any better in the ring if I have it all in trailer.

It's worked for us...My daughter is 10 (almost 11).  The strides she's made in self confidence and showing is unbelievable.  Now at shows, people seek her out to help them show, and she's starting to win showmanships over the 13 year olds.

So now that I've beat around your question...if I had to choose between one with showmanship and one without, I'd go to the one with showmanship

I am not sure if any of those comments were directed to me. BUT, I am good standing for short periods of time. With cold weather I have no circulation in my lower extremities. I also am prone to clot. So the longer I stand or sit the more I am prone to clotting. So I keep moving. We love to go to the shows, but when its time to go my body is ready.You are probably right, many times we should have just stayed at home but I love it. We have a small crew and the kids are dependant on me.
I think showmanship is great, but just because someone doesn't show in showmanship doesn't make them any less of a show person. The folks that win shows have to display their animal in the best light possible or they wouldn't win. Rare that a calf runs in circles and then goes on to win the show. Just an opinion ain't worth much.

saturday before easter is fine with me. most schools dont have service on friday and the monday after.

I wouldn't attend or not based on showmanship, but if we attend, we do showmanship! 
Showmanship in my opinion is the only class of the day that matters, how that judge places an animal is on the merits of the animal and the judges person preferrence, you have no control over that.  Showmanship in most cases judges the value that individual places on their project and you control your own placing.
I will say that the only time I don't insist the kids do showmanship is when they do it the night before with the same judge that is judging the next day.  I don't like giving the judge the opportunity to pick a calf apart before the class is judged, I think showmanship should be after classes are juddged.

We decide which shows to go to based on distance & other things on our schedule for the weekend.  It makes no difference if showmanship is offered.  However, as many others have stated, if they have showmanship, our kids show in it.    I have to agree with Jill on showing in showmanship prior to the regular classes to the same judge.  If you are going to do showmanship the night before, get a different judge.  Otherwise showmanship should be the last thing.

I personally really like showmanship and l like the feedback and some kids get really competitive to the point i have seen on a few occasions kids throw down show sticks and walk out of the ring even before reasons - needless to say the judge and the audience were not impressed even though these were good showman who have done a lot of winning
