AJ, most, but not all. There are a few clean bulls getting it done, made to order, 1 OAK, Hi Ho Silver, to name a few. I think the consistency comes from breeding the terminal clubby bulls that are carriers to clean maternal bred females. If you look at most of the good bulls that have consistently sired champions there is a decent maternal pedigree.
There are increased risks, but that is why club calves don’t bring 1.50/lb and they don’t get marketed to the sale barn. As a family, we love what we do and spend a lot of time on breeding decisions to eliminate as much risk as possible. Those who breed off a bull’s popularity alone, I believe are irresponsible. Knowledge is power!!
