Help!!  My steer's back legs are stiff and he is walking like a soldier.    Has anyone seen this before?  What causes this?  IS there a cure?  He has been to a vet and we have tried 3 sets of treatment, not having much luck.  He is telling me its from an over production of Lactose in his muscles.  :-\

Seeing a pic of him would help us all help you -- but I am leaning toward Spastic Paresis -- this is becoming more and more frequent it seems the harder the industry chases those big boned, hairy and straight cattle to win the shows. Sorry -- but if that is what he is doing, he is toast and will never recover from it. They tend to start out good, then get a little stiff, then you will see him swinging his legs to get around and lays down a lot. Pretty soon they are complete cripples and either need to be put down or carefully fed out till there is something to salvage.

Post a pic -- good luck

Terry

(PS -- Frostback posted just as I did, we are agreeing looks like)
