One of the comments here says that this bull is not the deepest bull in the world and not the heaviest boned. As I watched the video, I asked myself the question... is there such a thing as being too deep or too heavy boned? I really like this guy. To me he looks sound, athletic, great rib shape, great muscle without going overboard, clean in his lower third. I know we can go too far in the selection of some other traits, so my question is: Can we go too far in selection of depth of body? Can we go too far in selection of bone ? I understand that we need lots of depth and capacity to ensure some easy fleshing ability, but like many other traits, is there an optimum place for depth of body as well? By going to extreme depth are we just adding more waste to the animal? I maybe should have started a new thread for this discussion, as I certainly don't want to take anything away from the discussion of what I think is a bull that has a tremendous amount of value to the industry.
Brad... I think you have a good one! If all the cattle we run looked like this guy, this business would be much easier. Congrats and best wishes for your success with him.
