Finally got my power on a couple of days ago.  Thank goodness I had a generator!!  46,000, in western KY alone, that are still without power.  Matter of fact, they are telling my sister 3-6 more weeks!!

We got several inches of snow, then it rained/sleeted for just under 24 straight hours with the temps below 32!!  The good news... we got several more inches of snow after the ice, so at least we had some traction.

I'm way behind on everything & I got a few PM's & hundreds of emails during that time.  If I haven't responded, you may want to try again.

Wow, TJ, soooo glad you're back and ok.  Just want you to know that I got your generator generated pm but didn't reply as I wasn't sure you would be reading on a regular basis.  Now, I'll go ahead and reply!

Gosh glad your power is back on I remember how horrible it was for us when we were without power for a week- we watered cattle from the water dripping from the eavespouts
off the barn- it sucked- definately makes you realize how dependant we are on electricity- I would never have made a good Pioneer woman

Thanks Dori, Red & Justamon!  BTW, some places around here were without water for days, due to no electricity to run the pumps.  Couldn't get gas for a couple days, etc.  It was pretty interesting, but it could've been lots worse!  I think I saw on TV tonight that there are now only 20,000 in west KY are without power... that's major progress!!

I'm behind & probably will be for a while... especially if we have any more 70 degree weather like we had today!!  ;)

TJ- did you lose a lot of trees? I know when we had our bad icestorm there were so many down & damaged trees. Both young & old ones.

Not too many whole trees fell over, but we do have some tree trunks without limbs...     My neighbors lost 1/2 of a tree & I had one split too.  I think that my wife took a picture of our front yard... I'll post it if she did.  All night long, it was a constant, "snap, crack, pop, boom"!!  I literally mean all night... I couldn't sleep!  A cooling house didn't help, but it was mostly the constant noise.

Thanks!  I know what you were experiencing last year & it's no fun.  We'd had ice storms, but NEVER as bad as this.  I remember that yours was pretty bad too.  Lets hope that we all are ice free for many years!  I'm so thankful for all the 60's & 70's that we've had the last several days... mud and all!!

Glad to have you back. We dealt with the ice storms the last 2 Decembers and thank goodness 2008 let us be. We now have a propane powered heater and cook stove in our basement for those times. Do makes you appreciate the conveniences we take for granted sometimes.
