This is a September heifer that my son owns and will be showing this year. He won a scholarship from our district fair, and went with the wise choice and bought a cow with the money, that had this heifer. So, two for one money, and part of that was his scholarship money. The interesting part is, he had to buy an animal from a breeder on the sponsorship list. There were only two simmental breeders who paid into the scholarship last year so unless he went with another breed, he had to chose from one of those two. I think he made a wise choice, and now has a cow and calf for that money, and a pretty good calf at that! Her personality is really great also, we put halters on them for the first time yesterday and she was good. She weighed 449 pounds.
I think she looks pretty good, and better yet, she ranks in the top 15% for 9 EPDs, which is pretty awesome. Here is a link to her pedigree:

I'll have to agree...Excellent choice. Nice genetic piece, and really like the Simmental pictures from the current Denver show. The breed is making a positive move in the right direction, IMO.

Not sure what the other options were... but looks like he made a good choice.  Any cow that can raise a calf like that is worth having on the farm!  Best of luck w/them both  :)
