What classifies someone as a proffessional fitter at a county fair?  I dont get paid a dime, Im working on calves that I sold last fall.  I think if you can fit better than the people that are complaining you are considered a pro. jmho

At a county fair, anyone that's not family would be consider a fitter(maybe not a pro)

In a round about way you are being paid to fit - included in the price of the calves when you sold them, that is the argument you will get at any rate. BCCC is correct - at least in our county only immediate family, another 4Her or 4H leaders can "help" fit at the county fair 4H show. RW

Same at ours, only family, 4-H'ers or 4-H Leaders. I get paid to clip and fit at our county, but I'm a 4-H'er so they complain for no reason.

RW  you do have a good point that i didnt look at.  On the other hand i have never turned down a kid that didnt buy a steer from me.  My only problem is that they only complain if the calf i fit is competitive.  If I fit a class filler that is ok as long as it doesnt win.

Im with RW....At my county fair the people there consider me a professional fitter and I only work on my brother and sisters calves and help my cousins...They only feel this way becuase of the other people that i help along the way at other shows that arent even in my county...Also I sold a few steers to a family a county over and went to watch the show and they asked me to clip them before the show, so when I was there I helped the man get the steers to the ring and the county officals told me to leave the barn and did not want me to come back because the said I was a professional fitter and I was not allowed to be in the barn even to watch the dam show...that was totally wrong I thought..
