Project I just finished

I just built this and have had some interest in people wanting one. Just wanted to see what everybody else thought of them.

getting the bale in there must be really easy?  hopefully you don't load it from the top.

That is how I loaded it. It was pretty easy to me. But, I made it for my daughter to use and she can lay it down and slide the bale in from  the end. And she is eleven. This is I guess you could say my prototype. I have a thing or two I think I might change on the next one, but they are tiny little things that I see. I tend to be my own worst critic and get pretty nit picky with things.

Awesome idea. I'd probably put hinges on one side, and a latch on the other just so it would be easier to load. Now you got me thinking about new projects!

I sure like the idea!  I might put bigger wheels on it as I can't imagine wheeling the one pictured in the kind of snow we get in Michigan or even on bumpy/muddy ground.  I'm also curious what the frame is made of?  If you add a couple more bars and "heavy it up" a little, could you just leave it in with the horses and, then, wheel it out empty?  Sort of like a miniature ring feeder for horses?  I like Justin's idea of a hinged side.  It would make loading lots easier, especially on heavier bales.  Where are you located?

I like OFS's idea but it has its drawbacks. For one, it would almost double your labor. Second, it would change the structural integrity of the unit. The unit is best in its simplicity.

What are the overall dimensions?

Got a name for it? Like the Flake Feeder or Hay Scooter. ;D

No name yet but I am at county fair all this week and have had some interest in it. We have no snow to need bigger tires but the ones we have on it now roll perfect in all the mud we do have. I did nod add a hinge because the more moving parts on it just causes more failure points in my opinion. It is very easy to load hay into. Will take any suggestions for a name. I even have a few other ideas I want to build that I have thought of while sittting on my rump at the fair this week.

I think the way you load it is great for kids. 75 lbs. is a lot for a kid to pick up, but to slide it in there took some extra thinking. (clapping)

seems to me it would have good value in keeping hay picked up at a show. Cut the twine pick up a flake when you needed to.

Simtal that was one of my big reasons for building it. Have used it all week and it has been great.

Ok. After ten days at the Fair the trial run of my hay rack was a success. Ready to build some more.
