Prolate Fly Spray

I have always mixed diesel instead of water in with my Prolate to make it last longer. However, I have been having to spray my steers almost two times a day versus every other day this year. I'm not sure if it is because the diesel I am using is old or highway diesel, instead of dyed, but I need a new method because now both of my animals have bad dandruff. Some help please? I've got ideas for how to take care of the dandruff, but they won't help unless I have a new idea for fly spray.

Try using the water instead of diesel.  Also you may need to switch to another product, check the active ingredients and get a spray that is different from what you're using, you could be dealing with a immunity issue on the flies.  Get some conditioner on them to help with the dandruff and/or use a dandruff control shampoo.

Water isn't strong enough. It only works for about five minutes, which is why I use diesel. Do you have any suggestions on another good fly control product?

Repel-x, and cylence work good for me.  CAn't call the name right now but there is one in a purple jug that I like that kind of smells like cedar a little.  Pyrahna(sp) is good too.

Might try mineral oil instead of diesel.

Thanks guys, I will give those a try. I don't know what is wrong with the stuff this year. This is the first time in eight years I've had this problem.

Endure fly spray works well. It's actually for horses but it works on show cattle too; it's a little expensive ($20 per bottle) but it really works. It doesn't smell as bad as Prolate either IMO. I always had pretty good luck with the Prolate mixture too for both spraying and back rubbers but I never used it on show cattle.
