I was told that this is a pretty good shot to use for pink eye if you catch it early. My question is, Is this a one dosage shot or do you normally give it for 2 or 3 consecutive days? It really doesn't say on the label. It seems like it might be a single dosage shot because for a 1200 pounder is calls for 54 cc's that is a big dosage (or at least it seems like it).  If you have used this please give me some advice. thanks!

It's essentially a 'generic' knock-off of LA-200;  proper administration of the appropriate dose for the weight of animal - and no more than 10ml per injection site - should provide up to 72 hrs of therapeutic blood levels (and, ostensibly, in ocular secretions).  Be certain to read the label directions and any cautions, including meat/milk withdrawal times...

We are seeing some Moraxella isolates that are resistant to oxytetracycline... thus some treatment 'failures'.

When the la 200 products aren't working we have had succes with either long acting penicillin or the a mastitis product by the name of special formula. Using a sulphur block or garlic mineral can also aid in prevention although the sulphur product is not the best for gut health. Good luck

My experience is that unless you treat pinkeye very early on, as in as soon as the eye starts watering, there are insignificant differences in recovery in treated vs non treated animals. As was stated in another thread about tick resistance, susceptibility varies between individuals. I would go so far as to suggest pinkeye resistance varies between families and selecting for genetic resistance (against vulnerability) is the best way to manage for it.
However, a few years ago I started feeding kelp BEFORE fly season gets in full swing, and have had much less pinkeye. Kelp is good stuff.
When I did treat with 200, we gave two shots. I think the stress of catching and treating them them did more harm than the antibiotic did good.

What ever antibiotic you choose is your choice, but a patch over the eye is a must in my books.
