Question: Where can I have testing done for TH and PHA?

Where can I have testing done for TH and PHA? 

I haven't checked any cows/heifers for several years and I would like to check a few cows/heifers status on TH and PHA.
Could someone please give me some contact information or a link to a website for testing?

Also, how is it done now?
Is it still done primarily with a blood draw?  Which are used, red or Purple top blood tubes?
Or perhaps, have we moved on to hair follicles for the sample?

I normally just work through the association using blood cards, but you can go straight to Igenity for TH, PH, and numerous other tests.

With the advantage of having genetic status printed on their pedigree when tested through ASA, we are going that route now, and that may be the best way for registered Shorthorns. 

Since Dr. Beever developed the TH and PHA tests, going directly to him may be as good as any for an animal not registered Shorthorn.  http://agrigenomics-inc.com/index.html

Am I missing it, or does Agrigenomics NO LONGER do the DS test?

If the animals are registered, then the breed association will have approved labs for the testing as they also provide a report to the association.

If these are commercial animals the it would make no difference. 

Igenity is a good lab and can perform many test.  You may even want to consider doing some genomic testing on some of your better cows.

For our registries, "Composite Beef Cattle Registry" and "Composite Dairy Cattle Registry", we use Igenity.  We have some foreign members that have gone thru us to have their animals tested with them as well.
