Ramrod x JPJ Bull

I was wanting to get some opinions on weather to collect this bull.  I have collected bulls in the past an sold small amounts of semen from each but, have come to the conclusion that it is only worth collecting them if there is a demand.  Pic one is the bull as a calf pic two he is a yearling servicing wet two year-olds, pic three taken in June of this he will be two in September.  Pic four is his 8 year old dam by JPJ and DFS Red rider 839 (full sib to 844).  Thoughts.  Wanted to post for awhile just figured out how to resize photos to get them to upload.

I need a little more information.....what is his BW, WW, YW, registration # and is he THF PHAF and DSF. As far as quality I love his pedigree and his phenotype. May be a tick moderate for my liking, but the photo of his dam would make me willing to give him a try.

Looks like a real EZ keeper-and the pedigree suggests an ez calver;and a good overall outcross-my view would be similar to Wise Guy-other than frame score if he works on hiefers. O0

Reg  # 4208296 bw 92 I will have to look up his ww I don't usually get yws.  He it TH and PHA free by pedigree.  I have not tested for DS nor do I plan to.  I will agree that he is on the smaller side of moderate frame 5.  His dam, one of my smaller cows throws calves that look great and wean off good but, don't grow as large as the contemporaries.  This bull got more growth from ramrod and is much smoother made than previous sibs.  The grand-dam and great-grand-dam both stayed in the herd until 10 year old or more.

For me , test for DS or forget it.

His color and lack of data will limit sales in the commercial arena and the fact that you will not test for DS will disqualify any one from registering AI calves to show or use in purebred herds.

I should have qualified the DS test that if I collected him then I would test him but, since I am using him in my own herd only not that concerned.  I java been using JPJ  and sons bred back to daughters line breeding in this fashion for years and have only ever had one calf that existed signs of DS
  The calf straightened out and weaned off his 11 year old dam at 680 lbs.  The sire, dam and calf were all shipped.  I agree with testing for AI use but, I am not convinced that it changes my opinion on weather or not to use one in my herd.

I love the bull ! Thanks for posting a photo of his dam too. Things sure look Dry out there Matt! I hope you all get some rain soon.  I would love to see his calves. I didnt look up his registration  but sure admire the longevity in DSC bulls like JPJ ! Always liked the type 839 bred too. It would not stop me from using this fella. Best of luck.
