Is there a genetic difference between a dark red-Red Angus and a lighter colored red angus? Or in other words......will a dark red bull sire dark red calves and a lighter red bull sire lighter red calves. Or is there little inheritence of this factor? What about blacks?

In my experience... Dark red bull x dark red cow usually has dark red calf, dark red bull x light cow goes either way. However, we did breed a dark bull to a medium red cow and got a calf that is the color of the old orange simmentals.  Don't know where that one came from.

It has been my experience that usually if you breed dark to dark it stays that way, however it is not 100%. Kind of a wild caed gene so to speak. Some bulls breed truer to color than others though. RW

Then you have the light colored RA cows with the black muzzles, eyes, etc.  Strange.  You have to wonder where this comes from?  Then there is dark red, cherry red, and very rarely, an almost black red.

Seems like mostly the shorthorn-Red Angus crosses are a little bit orangey. I wondered if a cherry red bull of either Red Angus might improve on it? I have 2 full bro Durham Red bulls I'm using and one is kinda orangy and the other one not. We had one jpj calf that almost seemed black but he is very dark red. I spose the Red Angus might have a couple lines with foreign blood in them also.
