Up here we have Deep Fried Turkey which is like a delicacy and served at holidays and other 'formal' events.
My wife likes to put Karo syrup on her pancakes. She also mixes Karo in with peanut butter and uses that on her sandwhiches and what not.

Okay - how many of you have ever had a "real" cuban sandwich?  That's a sandwich made with cuban bread - not what is sold in grocery store bakeries - but the real thing baked in palmetto fronds - ham, fresh pork, salami, pickles, swiss cheese and mustard and mayo.  Hoagies and subs do not even come close.  It's getting hard to find the real cuban bread even in my area!  And - to go along with the cuban - a deviled crab with hot sauce on it.  It doesn't get any better than this!

Conch Chowder from the Keys, anyone had that before ?

How about tea and sweet tea. Go south of the Mason Dixion and you better make sure you specify what you want if you are lucky enough to find plain tea. Sorry shortdawg but sweet tea is for sure an acquired taste. We also had some people down from Minnesota a few years ago who had never heard of biscuts and gravy. I about fell over dead since it is my breakfast of choice.

I love bisquits and gravy ( we have hamburger gravy for supper all the time) and my favorite is sweet tea, we eat alot alike

Lets see we eat ketchup on our scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy for supper, I eat grape jelly on top of my toasted cheese sandwich-
love fried cabbage (in bacon grease) the absoluete best, green fried tomatoes, Heart and dressing, liver and onions,
gizzards and noodles, yummy farm Iowa food.  Our potato salad is to die for.

Conch Chowder from the Keys, anyone had that before ?

Both the CUban sandwhiches and the Conch chowder I eat quiet frequently when in Miami. Little Cuba in miami, FL you can find a real pressed cuban sandwhich.
REAL key lime pie as well. So tart it will peal the paint off the wall. Thick and rich. YUM!

I go to a little place off one of the causeways over to the south beach from Miami- they have Conch chowder, fried grouper sandwhich and key lime pie. Excellent meal. All made fresh daily. Have to wait til December. :-\

There's a pretty good story how the Conch deal got started. They taxed almost every catch from the sea.... some clever guys started harvesting the Conch since they weren't included in the tax deal..... and the rest is history. The Keys declared themselves separate from the U.S at one time and declared themselves the Conch Republic. The Keys are a pretty neat place. To reference the Farmer deal in another post ... In the Keys you could spit out of one window into the Atlantic Ocean and spit out the other window into the Gulf of Mexico.

Has anybody been to Delaware or northern Maryland and eat scrapple ? Its the best breakfast food only made in Delaware Maryland and some parts of PA.

My mom used to make chipped beef gravy served over toast. We put PB & J on pancakes and waffles and even saltines. Syrup in the ham in beans to sweeten them up. We eat cottage cheese with sugar on top.
My dad loves liverwurst or headcheese sandwiches, which I will not even dare to try!

My grandparents are from PA and use to bring scrapple home every trip.  Man....I hated that stuff.  They also brought Lebanon bologna home (sp maybe wrong)  loved that stuff but the smell was deadly.

My children eat ranch dressing on everything eggs fried or scrambled, sandwiches,FF,hambergers. I'm guilty to like a little meat with my ketchup. roni

Here in Indiana alot of us put spaghetti or macroni in our Chili.  My husaband and one son like peanut butter on their pancakes!  How about Mush with syrup!  Haven't had it in a while.  Somebody mention grilled toast with cheese and jelly that is awesome my grandpa made that all the time.

started thinking about this topic while I was making cornbread last night. I think in the south sugar in it isn't used but we do up north. BTW- it turned out terrible because i forgot baking powder. duh!

When you mentioned mush w/ syrup, my hubby liked his w/ apple butter. When we first got married he wanted me to fix it for him "like mom did". Well, mine just never suited him. then I found out she used lard. I told him w/ his cholesterol he didn't need that. Also, he liked fish for breakfast!

That is just the region in PA I am from. You spelled Lebanon just right.  Scrapple is one of my favorite things, especially on a potato roll with apple butter. I bet a lot of you never heard of those things!

When I go to my friends in Sharpsburg,KY , they have Ale-8 in all the stores. They tell me it's got more caffeine than Mountain Dew or Vault.

Hot chicken wings, beef on wick (cummelwick rolls), deep fried haddock, fried bologna sandwiches, all of which are "local favorites.  My grandmother was from Arkansas so I grew up with hog jowls and black eyed peas for New Years Day, southern fried chicken, liver and onions, Swiss steak for Sunday dinner.  Corn bread and beans made a suitable meal as well.
