We are planning to do a Jackpot show coming up next month.  Need to register (i guess) our Paddy Omalley sired heifer (out of Angus/Maine X dam-(not sure if has papers or not) . . .
So my question is if anyone can help me answer which way should I register her.  PLUS which shows in Texas can we show her at.  She would be a maintainer right?  All advise appreciated! <cowboy>

If you are the breeder, you will have to join the AMAA, and then you will be able to register her.  If you are not the breeder, contact them to register your heifer.

Maintainer classes are somewhat rare in Texas (isn't Fort Worth the only show that uses it?).  There are two dozen TCCA breeds but it's not one of them.

Register her as a Chi or AOB for the jackpot shows.

You can get papers on her as a Chi since she is sired by Paddy.  If you don't know the status of the papers on the dam, at best you can register her as a Maintainer but not Maine-Anjou.  If you were up North, that would be just fine.  Where you are Maintainter papers are virtually worthless in terms of the jackpot or major shows.

Check Theshowbox.com's On the Road section for upcoming shows.  You are looking for shows during just about the only dead period in the Texas jackpost season.
