Roach-Tight Back

We have a steer who has a small roach spot in his back. He's been adjusted and magnawaved. You can feel the knot in the muscle and can usually rub most of it out for a short time. What has been your experience with these steers? Does fat cover help or is it more likely to get worse the bigger he gets? Is there anything else you can do to help him relax it?
