We had a real good heifer calf out of him last year that got killed in an accident (ran over in tall grass) at about two weeks old.  We've got two Rocky calves this year - one bull and one heifer.  Too early to tell yet, but I suspect they will be plenty good also (both out of Kadabra cows).

I'm a fan of Rocky for use on second calvers.

I was ready to breed heifers to him last year and heard someone that bred to him the previous year. He bred 40 heifers and had all kinds of problems. Many of them had bad legs and walking issues. I never saw any of the calves myself though. Needless to say i went with another bull, didn't want to risk it until I see some more out there.

We used him on heifers last year and didnt have anything I'd consider to be a problem.  Had a couple of easy pulls out of clubby heifers (a Friction and a Kadabra).  We just prefer the safety of Angus on heifers.  Every calf we've had out of him has been solid.

Thats good to hear, I do really like him just didn't want to risk it. And I was even thinking about cows but after I heard crooked legs I didn't want to try that either.

We bred 10 heifers to him this year. Didnt have to pull a one. The calves have great hair, good bone, and are reasonably thick. As for the structure problems, all the ones that we had are as sound as cats. I really like the heifers that Rocky is throwing. I think they are going to make some good feminine fronted  cows with the thickness it takes to make some good club calves.

We had two heifers from Balboa this past spring out of heifers and we had no problems at all.  They were unassisted and were on the ground before we even knew it.  I am actually planning on putting some pics of them on here this weekend if the weather allows.

We used Rocky on 2nd calf cows and got along well, probably could have used him on heifers, but I've learned my lesson.............we only use PB Angus bulls on first calf heifers. We retained two(2) R.B. heifers last year, one out of a Meyer 734 X Angus cow and other out of Tugboat(Meyer son) X Char cow. Both deep bodied with nice pencil fronts. This year we have two bull calves and two heifer calves, bulls show good bone, tons of hair, black, polled with decent thickness and appear to be getting better each day. Heifers are both out of flush mate's of Checks in the mail X Meyer 734 and really look fancy  ................very early as we know they could change. Overall very pleased and we will use again this fall. Have had NO calving problems and good conception rates. My guess is that he is going to make good Club Calf Mommas down the road.

Bad as it might sound to the success of Ali,I like most all "Rocky's" better than Ali calves.Must be ole WHO makin the difference.Even though he is advertised "Calving ease",he is sorta unpredictable such as Dirty harry on first calvers. I try and not ever have first calf throw aways,as we have a small herd. However,I use JPJ or Total Solution on heifers. Had way more luck raising saleable calves for show. Whatever works.
