running fans during the winter

good  evening  to  everyone.  I  was  wondering  how  many  of  you  run  fans  on  your  steers  during  the  winter?  If  so  are  you  worried  about pneumonia? I  was  wondering  about  this  because  when I  went  to  feed  tonight  my  steer  was  wet  from  sweating  and  was  wondering  about  turning  on  fans  but  am  afraid  of  getting  him  sick?  What  is  your  opinions  on  this?  Thanks  for  your  help  ahead  of  time.

why is your steer sweating? in the winter let them run and be calves and do their thing. when its time to work on one get him in do your thing and kick him back out. if u rinse and blow him as dry as you possibly can its just fine to put a fan on him for awhile. work hair and kick him out.

If I have cattle tied up in the barn I always kick a fan on to help circulate the air. Especially if they are super hairy they can sweat some. I had a heifer last year that did sweat without a fan. Just depends on the set up. My old barn was fully insulated and when cattle got in there it could warm right up.

It's probably not sweat but condensation instead because of the difference in body temp. and air temp. Air movement will help with this.

All our fans run 24/7 but we rarely see temps below 40 degrees

Anything below 50 we turn the fans off
