Well the thing is if I brought my lunch that would defeat the whole purpose. We have a salad bar at school so to me that is enough Vegan stuff they need. I am a active member of FFA and I really like your idea by the way. However the thing is if we sold them that stuff the school dosne't respect us so we could lose our Chapter. My high school is not ag oreniated at all, however myself and many of my friends and ffa members spend a lot of time telling our ag story and we also use every chance we get to educate on ag. So myself a around 6 others decided to put a presenentaion together to present to the School Board. Many of the vegans/ vegeterains at school wear makes up, clothes ect things that come from animal by-products but still consider themselves vegans. I am still fighting and I am going to win this one!

So your school is going vegetarian, not vegan. I wouldn't worry about it. its just high school. if you want to defeat the opponent, you'll have to convince the other students, not the propietors (school board) that they aren't achieving anything great.

and once you do, tell these kids to look at their boots, then proceed to shove them in their mouths.

Actually, talking to kids won't help because it is the school boards chocice. However the school systems dosen't seen the differences of a Vegan/vegeterain lunches. My purpose is to educate, stress my basic rights and give a good name to agriculture.

As has been stated in this forum numerous times already...what proof do you have that the school is going vegetarian??? Is it just the fact that some student got the right number of signatures on a petition? If so I would highly doubt that any of this true, because as has been said, the road for this to happen is far to long and is in fact bigger than just your school administration. Not only is there the fact of costs etc, but there is the fact that the state has to approve all menu changes at the school, and generally there are actually a couple of state agencies that get involved with that. While in many states the state has forced schools to start offering a vegetarian option, as of now I cant find a single one that is approving vegetarian only menus, so I HIGHLY doubt they are gonna go all the way to a vegan menu.

I am not one for drama and I don't just believe something when someone tells me it, espiocally anyone from my high school. But last friday when they served EVERYONE vegeterain means and then monday they did the same, a announcement was made over the intercom that this such thing would be taking place I am pretty sure that it is. I do believe since I have done much research about the HSUS and seen this happen to school in California that it could possibly be happening. I am simply trying to have it stopped before it really gets out of hand. And I am sure many postive things will come out of my presentation for the school board. We saved our FFA Chapter that way so I am going to save my school lunches. The kids that signed these potitions didn't read the fine print about them changing EVERYTHING to no meat so they thought it would just another option, they were lied to and to me that is not right.

I am a substitute cook at our school, with all the state subs. I can't imagine it going vegetarian.  Plus it would be so expensive to convert and not cost efficient.  Lunch programs are barely getting out of the red so I can't see it happening totally.  Every now and then I can see but not totally.
