WOW didnt know there was a DNA test that would stop a bull from jumping a fence. I need that test.

I didn't,  not purposefully, she was suppose to be bred clean........ there is a neighbor bull that is a Joe Rider son, and the only thing we can come up with is that some how he got in with her and we didn't know it.  Which as farmers we all know is not out of the question!

I had the same exact opposite thing happen last summer. Pasture we rent has a group of Black Angus  next to our SH heifers  and my Junior herd got out with the angus and but  no idea how long? I was with a customer showing off the heifers and could not find my bull - he was breeding a angus, I wrote down the tag # and left them a note. Sorry to hear about your story

She is referring to the cow.  The cow was assumed (I believe) PHA free by pedigree.

i think she said she was bred clean, meaning to me, the cow's status was either known and bred to a clean bull, or it wasn't known and was bred to a clean bull.

Wow, good job with amazing results!  I probably would have been 0 for 3 as well!! 

We still can't solve that age old problem of fence jumping can we?  A friend of mine had a yearling angus bull that actually dug under a wire cattle panel fence to get out with the cows last year.  He bred a couple, and then found a way to jump back into the bull pen and fight with the other two bulls he had just left behind.  Interesting that he didn't take the same route back in that he worked so hard to create.

My vet says there are too many PHA and TH calves being born to show people in our area.  He tells me every time I take cattle to him that he does not understand why others do not test.

What is a normal Salute calf birth weight? Are you sure it was deformed?

I just had a 2 day overdue 88lb heifer calf, and a 4 day overdue 85lb heifer calf out of Salute.  Both were from RA cows.

and fence jumping doesn't matter if the cow is tested clean said the 5 year old jumper - but then of course you have to test the calf but at least with a clean cow the jumping bull won't kill her (unless he jumps from a tall building and lands flat on her

Apparently you didn't go to titangirls blog.  Classic deformity w/PHA.  Congrats, TG, for having the guts to do what needed to be done to save the cow and remaining calf.  Will you post pics here of the 'healthy' calf?  Amazing!

no she is a double vision we hadn't had her tested but just stayed safe and bred her clean

Double Vision is PHAF. There has to be another bull in your cow's pedigree that is PHAC.
