It was a very solid sale and in my opinion, what made it great was that the prices were being paid by real breeders and not just families trying to buy a show heifer. This was a very good set of sale cattle and it was good to see the Shadybrook crew get rewarded for their efforts. Great job and I think all the buyers went home happy. There aren't many Shorthorn sales in Canada where I come home with $7000 bids from 2 different people and don't get anything bought for them.  There was a pile of money in the seats and in bids that was unused. They could have sold another 20 head and I don't think the prices would have softened .

I saw a few trailers leave the yard with nothing in them.

Grant, did you get any yourself? Would you happen to know what the male embryos brought in the silent auction? Thanks.

I purchased the lot 40 bred heifer at $8250 , lot 44 bred heifer at $4400 and lot 8 cow at $4900. I got several others bought for other breeders, including a couple lots for a Scottish breeder.

The male embryos did not sell high, but all sold. Most were in the $120 to $160/embryo range. There were some good buying opportunities as they were all from their best donors, and these could result in a pretty cheap herd bull.
