Short Penis (i am talking about bulls) Head out of the gutter

I heard ABS let a few bulls go because they had a short penis?  I heard that it is highly heritable, but what are the downfalls to it. 

Boys keep this clean I am just curious, why it matters for a bull.

Nope, but I'm probably not as bad as they come.

To be honest, I can't really figure why it would be that big of a deal, unless their penis is just REALLY small and couldn't breed the cow, or it is a side affect of something that reduces fertility.

Interesting subject. I did a very short google search because I don't have much time right now, but here is what I came up with.

An adequate length for a bull's penis is that it should come almost between the front legs during a full erection and extension. A bull with a too short penis will not be able to breed.

When I last talked to them, they insisted that the bull I had inquired about and had a question about from rumors, had been "thoroughly researched" and "found his sons had no variation of failure rate than any other bulls."  When pressed, they said they had heard the same thing, but had no intentions of pulling the bull from their catalog.

The problem: His sons had such short penis's that they were unable to breed heifers or cows.  No extention, no length. Seems to me THAT would be a problem.

At first glance I thought this thread was aimed at me! I mean I had a bull that was accused of this.  It was said he was going to have a problem breeding, but, he must have GROWN out of it. ;D

Matters a lot, when you have a bull with about 30 cows, and you don't get 1 calf out of him. Kinda hurts the bottom line. For the record, he had a semen test of 92%.
