Some of my bred heifers one on right is a Muridale Buster 2 she is ai to Coalpit creek leader middle one is a CP Stockman heifer ai to Yambergan Tobermory a bull from aus. got semen from Crooked Post shorthorns. CP Stockman is another good bull I have only had one born here and it was good.

I get where you are coming from and in many circles that is the conventional wisdom. I would disagree with the theory that frame size has much to do with calving ease on first calf heifers. I don't want to assume you haven't thought about this but pelvic area size is very important and just because a heifer is taller doesn't mean she will do better. The other most important factor to consider is the bone size of the calf. Some heifers who are large boned may pass this on to the calf and make it a difficult birth no matter what. Also, the shape of the head and the shoulders are very, very important. You don't want those long nosed giraffe looking headed ones for calving ease. With all that said, I believe many of the bulls mentioned would hold up their end of the bargain very, very well on breeding smaller framed Shorthorn heifers. The bull in my avatar can do that too and in many cases is much better than using a "sleep all night" purebred Angus bull.DiamondMCattle said:
