Careful there, your MASSIVE ignorance is showing through again.  I have made some pretty darn good steers, back when we just didn't have the cow power to make the better breeding stock, out of TH/PHA free cows.  If they are just good cows not show heifers that you try to make a cow, they can make steers any day when bred to a good X-Ray or Vision type bull.

Is breeding a THC/ PHAC to a THF/ PHAF any different than breeding a  THF/ PHAF to  a double carrier?

It's the same.  The massive ignorance being overlooked- is trying to find a double clean, and breeding it to a double clean- to produced a good one.

A good example of THF and PHF genetics that are working would be Roan Sue that sold in Duis dispersal. She went to a very well known show family and is clean both ways. Her grandpa is Trump and the family that purchased her is flushing her clubby and show genetics. The calves I saw were pretty nice. A couple years ago the Donors Unlimited sale had a diamond leggs female and her daughters that were show steer machines. Most of the folks I know try for genetic free females so they can use dirty bulls just a general statement. It opens up your possibilities alot.

As much as some do not like Jake's Proud Jazz - He helped out on the show side of things tremendously. He reduced the size of some of these big show genetics and made them easier fleshing.  animals.he definitely was used alot on THC cows and made some pretty good show steers.

I didn't know you were targeting public sales?

I agree- were they clean or carrier?  Or does it matter?  to me, show steers and market heifers can be hot- who cares?

Like I said above, we all have it, we all want to get rid of it, but nobody can...

Back to topic-  it seems like the 'other crowd' wants this thread derailed too.

.  All of the current show steer producing mama cows, are already dirty carriers- thus needing something outcross, and clean to breed them to.(TH)[/b]

reread.. I  ETA

That is not even close to being true. Why pretend you know something about the club world when you dont even breed for them. Stick to your maine/shorthorn whatever they are.

Hey crab ass--- those words are in reference to shorthorn steer producing cows.  Find me a shorthorn steer makier that isn't carrier...  then reread what I typed, and I made sure to leave the word "CLUBBY" out of it.. and go crawl back into your hole...

Then, you can feel free to not participate in any shorthorn discussions.. Just b/c you failed with yours-- maybe you should have started with something remotely decent... instead of canadian pureist crap.

I feel this is Jasons site, always has been and always will be. So until HE tells me I cannot post on anything I want, I will continue to point out your wrong, misleading or hypocrital posts.

I also do quite a bit of knocking of the breeding show cattle bloodlines, as I know they will not be able to help me acheive my goals 90+% of the time, and I feel that while the show steer bloodlines can help the commercial producer in terms of adding muscle-- I don't feel as if these breeding show cattle bloodlines offer anything to the commercial man.

Didn't you just brag on another post that the majority of your herd was related to the 2 time Nat'l Champion female Farah, which her sire has a like 8.4 BEPD?????

GS Touche hasn't been mentioned.  He's listed as double clean on ASA.  Born in 1991, and could sire competitive steers today.
Words 4W Casper is listed as double clean and has what could be called a "clubby" pedigree.  Born in 1995.
Windridge Leggs 200 ET - listed as double clean - born 2006.
I bet WO Dividend and his full brother LEN RU TA Leader could still sire competitive steers and steer mama's (they're clean and semen's probably out there somewhere).
And, I've always liked the looks of the W.O. Polled Shorthorn bulls...there are two clean sires listed on their site that are clean and have the look.
Steer mama's - the full irish bulls excluding Improver  and Improver 57 and their carrying descendants.

A THC shorthorn bull from Canada?  Probably the most famous would be Shadybrook Centurion...syndicated for $100,000 and later found out to be a carrier.
