How long will one Gallon last for a yearling heifer?

A gallon looks to last about a month.  Once you get them going on it, meaning you have their hair hydrated and healthy, it really doesn't take very much!

Here's how I used it:

Step 1 Rinse calf throughly until they are clean and cool

Step 2 Blow completely dry and allow fans to fluff hair

Step 3 Shake Show Coat (It will seperate) and spray on entire animal.  Concentrate it on areas that are harder to get good hair like legs and flank.

Step 4 Comb it in and turn on fans. (Here comes my favorite part)

Step 5 Let stand for 2 songs on the radio or drink one beer or do both at the same time while waiting for product to take hold of hair.  This step is critical.  Maybe drink 2 beers if you are fast at this step.  You can get thirsty during steps 1-4.

Step 6 Fluff with blower.  Do not blow the product out of the hair.  Fluff it in.  Hair is not oily and will dry completely to the touch.

I did this once per day. Entire process takes about an hour.  Do not rinse again until next day. You do not want to wash out the product. Hope this helps.  You will see noticable results within the first three weeks.

Don't forget step 5. Very important <beer>

ive been using healthy coat on our mini Herefords washing about once a week and it seems to be helping but then again its starting to get cooler here in texas so idk it might just be the weather but ill still keep mixing it in the feed

I had mixed results. I used it on two calves for about 45 days. It worked great on a calf that started out with good hair but the other calf which had normal hair it never seemed to help much. I did like how it didn't weigh down the hair.

No, they don't start losing their hair if you miss a day.

This is our first hand experience with this stuff...all of it.  Show Coat, Sure Coat, Fresh & Full, Sheen, Nothing at all, and maybe a couple others.

Different products get different results on different cattle.
All of these products work really well on genetically really good haired cattle.
All of these products work reasonably well on genetically mediocre haired cattle.
None of these products work much at all on genetically bad haired cattle.
None of these products take the place of effort.
If you keep cattle cool and clean, they are much more likely to grow hair.

These products absolutely help.  They are not a magical cure, but they do help.

I would certainly agree with the assessments of those who have performed un-official, un-scientific test of these products. I also relented and purchased a gallon of each. For us, both products performed equally as well. The cattle that were genetically programed to have long lush hair did on these products. Those who were not did not! Don't know the exact formulations but I am aware of some of the components that these mixtures contain. There is a lot of stuff in these products that are good for hair and skin! In summary, these are good products but they are not "magic potents". I think there is a benefit to using these products but they are not a substitute for hard work and keeping the hair clean and the skin healthy.
