Hello,
I have a PB Angus Heifer that I normally show as a breeding heifer, to say the least, she isn't very big boned, not a bunch of "muscle", not huge topped..to say the least she is not a market heifer. But, the small show (20 minutes away) I am going to is just for both of us to get some experience outside of of home and the county fair. The show didnt offer a breeding heifer class so I just put the $20 on the entry form and signed her up. I am afraid she isn't going to do as well as she usually does being showing in a breeding class...I guess just let me know what you think..all opinions welcome.

thanks
lindsey

Also, this is the first time I have ever clipped a heifer on my own and this pic is recent and does not do her justice.

If you go into this show only for the experience of getting out and showing regardless of the result then you will be fine.  Truthfully, there is nothing about your heifer that will make it even semi-successful in a market heifer class.  Not to sound harsh but you will most likely finish at the bottom of the class. If you can handle that, and simply want a showing experience then go for it.

I would do a double check with the show officials.  There is a possibility that the Breeding Class was accidentally left off the entry form.

You are not the first person to show a breeding heifer in a market class just to get some halter time.  There is nothing wrong with that.

Most likely the judge will just say that it is too bad there wasn't a breeding class for her.

I would bet a dollar to a donut that you will beat a couple real stout hfrs that are a structural wreck, on the merit of soundness. Go for it

If your goal is the halter time, go for it. I would get the girl a pedicure though, she looks like she could use one.
