Showing pregnant heifers

My school has just won a heifer who was AI six weeks ago. As we are new to showing purebred heifers (we usually only do the steer carcass comps) I am after some advice. How long is it safe to show her for before putting her out to paddock? What sort of protein % grain should we be feeding her. There is virtually no pasture here due to long dry spell and our steers are on a grain mix at 14% plus hay. I imagine she would be ok on that mix?

We show them til they 2 y/o and try to calve right after our spring show. Our spring show is 3rd week in March and have 2 due to calve April 8 and 11.
