Two of my cows are silent cyclers. Its frustrating every year at this time of year. We are trying to get them AI-ed but they dont ever get rode by the other cows. We watch them everyday day and night to watch for any change but nothing. Every year after putting them in with the clean up bull they are bred. The one had a 6,000 calf her first year, 2000 calf last year and has a very good steer calf on her this year. We wish we could her AI-ed. The other cow has only clicked with Young Money and raised a 4000 calf last year so we'd like to take her back to him. We gave them shot of Lut on the 21st with still no change. Suggestions? Thanks!

I thought it could take between 2 to 5 days for them to cycle after a shot of lut.

Do a 7-day co-synch with a CIDR, day 0 put in CIDR and gnrh, day 7 pull CIDR and give Lut. After you pull CIDR and give Lut watch for heat.  If no heat then breed 72 hours after you pulled CIDR and give gnrh again at time of breeding

What he / she said or get a gomer bull to detect for you. Question / are these 2 cows what you would call your boss cows / lead cows?

we had a few cows do that. to solve it when we pulled the cidr we also pulled the calves off for two days until we saw them stand (usually happened on the 2nd day). after they stood we put the calf back on them. it works everytime for us

I would switch to Estrumate first and foremost.

For those that are showing you heat I would time breed them.

What % should cycle in 2 to 5 days after a single 5cc dose of lute?

In order to have a corpus luteum, which is necessary for the lute to have any effect, my understanding is they need to be about 11 days since their last heat.  In a random bunch of cycling cows, about half should be in this category.  Add another 3 days for response, and should get about 2/3 on first shot of lute.  Can do a second shot to non-responders on the 6th day after the first lute shot to get the rest of them.  This is the poor man's synch method.

Second that.  We have used a gomer bull and done the adhesive patches.

Well we ended up giving one of the cows a shot of Lut on the 21st and then another shot 7 days later (May 28th).  After that we put in with the clean up bull and yesterday evening he bred her.  The other did go into standing heat and we AI-ed her.
