We had a heifer in heat today and the semen that we ordered for her was never delivered so we went with the only semen we felt would work for a heifer.  The heifer is a Sandeens SOS x Ebonys Dream Child.  We bred to Dream Catcher just a few minutes ago.  I know that Dream Catcher is a Dream On son but we thought we were okay beings the sire was not actually Dream On.  I am thinking we are taking a big risk.  Our breeder does a lot of dairy animals so she is not familiar with the Simmi breed.  Our only other Simmi choices in our tank were Dream On, Chopper, and Star Power. We would never use Chopper or Star Power on a heifer and we certainly were not going to use Dream On.  Was my daughters choice okay or did we do something bad?  Any comments appreciated.  Thank you.

well dream on is known for calving ease and a really nice show ring look. dream catcher is no different just that he is hetero polled. did just fine by me

I think you'll be ok.

VERY uncool of your supplier not to deliver semen on time!

Ebony's Grand Master SEXED semen was suppose to be delivered last Thursday and was a no show.  I'm sure something must have came up.

That's far enough away on the dream on that you should be o.k.  We've bred similar to that with good results.  Good cow family.

Thanks for info everyone.  It sounds like we will be great!!  Now we pray for the heifer live heifer calf!!  Should be a great one if all turns out!  I am excited.
