Simmental bull-Rendition

There should be a lot of calves by him.Opinions please. Very good looking bull- I know a lot of people like him, but how are his calves looking. I am thinking of using him on some PB Angus. Just never seen nor heard much about his calves. I know he had some daughters do well at nationals, but have not seen any.

I'm a promoter of Rendition, he actually was born not that far from my house-- regardless...  when I saw him in Denver (last time I saw him), he excelled all other bulls in the yards in terms of a cattleman's type of a bull, that could work for all aspects of the industry- seriously. 

I know Woody kept telling us, and the people around us.. that he'll be best suited for mating to Angus cows.  I don't know if that's to take advantage of their homo black (since Rend is hetero, and throws some crazy colors), if it's so Rendition can inject the blaze face (almost too much white on Sim's), or if it's to help cap into the ever growing Sim/ Angus craze. 

Regardless of that, I think if being mated to Sim cows, the ideal cow for him is a homo black, solid black cow...  that is unless your a clubby type Sim person and want all kinds of crazy colors. 

Offspring pictures, do a search both on here and google.. There are tons that will show up.. He becomes a topic of discussion about once a month on here.

He really crosses well with Angus. There have been many topics about him here, but we also have a Rendition calf. I will attach a picture of him, but he is out of a solid black cow, only a small white on her udder. He ended up with a little too much white for my liking. We have not cut him yet, but comparing him to our Mo Better calf (who is the other calf in the picture), he is first on the list so far. The Rendition calf is about 45 days in the picture, and the Mo Better (x Macho dam) is just 30 days older. We do like Rendition, and have even bred our Summer Sister daughter to him for a fall calf next year.  We hope that will be a better match up. The dam of the Rendition calf was just AI'd to Chopper, hope that is a better cross!

The Mo Better was a second calf and weighed 80 pounds, the Rendition was 82 and 4th calf from the dam. There are days I like him, and days I am not sure. Mostly because of the white on the back feet. Check out his curly locks on his head, can't wait to get a pair of clippers on him  ;D.....

The extra white shouldn't bea problem with Angus cows- will he generally add or moderate frame size? Looks like he will throw a little hair which is a bonus. From what I have read he sounds like a good all around bull as long as you are careful of color.

That's what we say! But it is ALL hair!!!! A huge "fro"  O0 kinda like him!!!  (clapping)

From what I have seen, he WILL NOT add frame. Maybe downsize a big cow, or throw to the cow. We saw several Renditions at the Owen's sale (his owners), and all of the calves were average size. Nothing overly large framed. We liked them all, but liked the half and 3/4 bloods the best!

Oh, here is a pic of the dam of the Rendition calf. She is almost 7 years old.

I have four Renditions out of registered Angus cows...two bulls and two heifers. Both the heifers are solid black, and the bulls have blaze faces. I really like the heifers, and probably like one of the bulls a little more than the other one at this stage. But I like his mother better, too, so...

My sampling was small to moderate at birth out of mature cows. Don't know that I would call him a heifer bull just based on four calves, but two of mine were definitely smaller than average and they're growing with the best calves I have.

My favorite heifer and favorite bull calf this fall are out of a bull called Blazin Hot. A little more front end compared to the Renditions as youngsters, but for production cattle, they're pretty nice. I have two more babies that just hit the ground, and they're pretty stout. Blazin' Hot is a Welshs Dew It Right out of a Gambler daughter...homozygous black and homozygous polled purebred Simmie. One of the better EPD baldy bulls available. Definitely impressed with his first babies and used him more this fall.
