Whatever happened to Twelve Mile farms the breeder of some of those bulls?

[/quote]

Rod and Carol Hansen of Twelve Mile Farms, sold their place just east of Billings, Montana and bought a large ranch in South Dakota directly south of where I live. They have a commercial herd now. Last I heard they were still there. We purchased a Twelve Mile bull out of the yards in Denver several years ago and he did a very good job for us.

Another consideration for use on a taller Shorthorn cow would be a couple of our herd bulls. Wolf Willow Major Leroy 1M works very well on taller cows, as he will downsize a frame or so, and add thickness and muscle. Leroy is now 9 years old, and is presently in stud and we should have semen in the US by late Feb. This may be the last semen we have from Leroy because of his age. We hope he continues to breed for a few more years though. I have attached a picture of what Leroy does when used on taller cows. Another good choice, IMO, is HC FL Touchdown 123T ET. He is moderate framed and he is now at Genex Hawkeye West, Billings, Montana. He will be distributed by Genex in both the US and Canada. There should be semen available in the US in January and by March 1st in Canada.

There are embryos out of the dam of the red calf(further up) and Leroy-I imagine that they would be pretty wide made

JIT, 2 questions for you. What is the roan calf and the red calf, both with buts toward the pic? From the hip they are quite impressive. What is on the dams side?

The red calf is a heifer calf ( with her butt towards the camera) and she is sired by Major Leroy. Her dam is sired by HC Merger 93M ET and she is from the Raggedy Ann cow family. Merger was sired by Rodeo Drive and he left us some excellent daughters although they were too big for today. Merger weighed 3320 lbs after an over night stand when I shipped him to market. He was a gentle giant with outstanding performance and he passed this on to his calves. I have attached a picture of Merger.
This red heifer has continued to develop well, and I think she is one of our better replacement heifers. Leroy did a great job of downsizing her dam and adding some thickness and additional fleshing ability.

The roan bull calf is also sired by Major Leroy. His dam ( the roan cow beside him) is a Matlock cow sired by Nicol Laredo 3L. She is from their Specs cow line that originated at Muridale ( aka coyote on SP). This bull calf is in our bull test this year.
