Sires that where ahead of their time

There are a lot of sires that changed their own breed for the better. What about those that did more good 10 years later than they did in their lifetime? For me 734 and Who come to mind. What are your thoughts?

Oscar 711!  Not sure what year he was born but we had a bunch of 96 and 97 model cows out of him that were just ideal cows for today.  In his era, they were deemed too small in stature but you want to talk about deep, broody, soggy old cows that would flat raise a big calf!  His influence is still seen today as daughters and grand-daughters of those old 711 cows are dominating matrons in our herd now.

Aaron , I really thought your post would read: Rocking horse Taylor Made ? I guess for me this is one of the most impressive sire groups to date.  711 must me in grandpa's herd?

Yeah, I thought about it, but he is a modern bull.  Granted he is going to get overlooked by many people because his numbers dont read as good as they could.  But with that being said, anyone who has the guts to use him regardless of his EPD profile will absolutely love the Tailor Made cattle as they far outperform his EPD's in every category!  Maybe in another 10 years everyone will agree with us that Tailor Made was a bull far before his time.  (pop)

FYI the high gaining steer out of the 2011 crop was a Tailor Made out of a F! shorthorn x angus Open Range daughter.  He gained 4.65 the entire duration in the lot and brought $1998 on the grid. (lol)

And many of the Tailor Made daughters you saw here have Oscar 711 grandmas.

Which of the bulls you listed, Gary, has the most growth?

I think the market will continue to push towards bulls that can covert high energy feedstuffs the most efficiently, while still having a high enough adg, as turnover rates become ever more important.

I have to agree with that statement as in our area the steers and slaughter heifers are going to be finished in a feedlot. They need to have performance and feed efficiency along with good carcass traits to make it work. We just added a junior herd sire that has a lot of performance and we are looking at another one.
