I need a little help. Where exactly do you stop on the legs when you are slick shearing cows?  How much if any hair do you leave on the belly and any other useful tips?  Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about for a slick shear show or just to get rid of winter  hair? We just sheared our heifers to get rid of sll the dead winter hair. We shear down to the knees and leave the belly hair

I've also wondered the same thing... Not for a slick show... But to remove winter hair. Also is it more beneficial than just shredding old hair?

No show heifers just cows. Some people have told me to stop at the knee and to leave a little on the belly.

This is one we did yesterday. We leave the belly and legs...

It's 100 degrees,  you spent 25 a head to do the clipping, and you leave 1/2 the heat trapping insulation?

We just use medium blades on the lister clippers (big).

Cowman, it may be 100 where you are, but we are getting snow this morning! It is not sticking, but still below freezing at night this week, and cold days most days. It cost us only the sharpening fees to clip, since we do ourselves with the blades that are ready to go in and be sharpened.
