It's just amazing the prices and rumors that get started at the county fair. It seems like everything gets an added zero or 2 on the price tag. We used to have the largest and one of the thoughest counties here in Kansas, one year the res angus heifer in Louisville got beat in class but it happened to be by the heifer that won the b&o show that same year in Louisville and my last year showing there was over 300k worth of heifers in our grand drive and we won with the cheapest one of them all and she also wound up winning our state fair that year.

My kids probably have the smallest county fair on this board, but its tougher than you will ever imagine.  (Res. Angus from 2009 Ak-sar-ben and Reserve Maine MO state fair came from our little fair last year along with 4 other state fair class winners)  We get "double whammied" because we are not "from" here originally.  Its a tough club we are not invited into evidently.  My kids had a rough time at first.  Rumors, acusations, ect were hard on my daughter.  I told her, they never talk about someone that isn't a threat.  They only talk about the ones that they are worried about.  It's been a valuable lesson for her to learn, but she needed to learn it.  Win or loose she's the first one to congratulate her competitors and one of the firsts to help you out.  That (regardless if we win) makes me one proud parent

I think ours is smaller. I think we had 14 or 15 fat steers this year. Most of them are serious contenders every year with maybe 3-4 typical 4H calves.

Sorry Zach I can beat you we had 5 head of fat cattle  Here is a picture of EVERY kid that exhibited livestock...this included a bunch of peewees and included any kind of livestock.  We have one building on the fairgrounds, it has a lean to on it and ALL animals are housed on it and the showring is there too.  We show everything in one day and sell it that evening.  I'm from Ohio and Ohio has nothing like what Missouri has trust me.  Heck, we cann't even get any kind of fairfood at 90% of the shows we go to
