We have not had a lot of rain at once to cause flooding but we have not had more than two days in a row with out rain in the last two weeks. Hay that was cut two weeks ago is still laying out on the fields. Crops were put in early but now look pretty sad in a lot of places, yellow and hurting pretty bad. Cann't get in the field to put on NH3.

To add to this post, today, for only the 3rd time in 29 years, we were unable to get to a facility to transfer embryos.

We had several days of rain here, and the ground is full. Last night we got something on the order of from 3 to 5 inches of rain in just a few hours. The road leading out of the ranch was under water betwen us and the highway.

All the work and effort to get a batch of cows ready is out the door. I feel terrible, but the road was closed. Luckily, these folks are some of the nicest people you ever want to work with, and understand -- the last this happened the guy just quit me and accused me of not caring.

I guess I need to install wings on my Chevy! hehehe We are going to re-do them so I will take care of things then!

Be carefull out there people, this is a wierd year for certain!

Need to make some more hay, please stop the rain for about a week.  Wish we could control the weather, we won't have to worry about farming then.

Too bad y'all can't send some of that rain this way - we'd be more than happy to get some here.  The grass here looks like the middle of August in a real dry year - not a good sign for the middle of June...

This is the first time in my recent memory, that I can say that I do not know of any place in Western Canada that is dry. We have had unusually abundant rain, so much that some farmers may not get to finish planting their crops. In Saskatchewan alone, there is about 7 million acres not seeded right now, and much of this will not get seeded even if the rain stops. We saw the sun for the first time in about 3 weeks yesterday, and the next couple days look very good. More rain is predicted for Wednesday, Thursday and thunder showers for the weekend. I went from scrambling to find more pasture to having lots in about two weeks, which is a very good feeling. Our pastures and hay crops are the best we have seen in at least 10 years... or maybe even more. All I know is that it sure beats dry by a long shot. Our country is semi arid, so we see our share of dry conditions. Right now, I have to try to restrain my grin when I see my grain farming neighbors who have not got their crops planted or can't get into the fields to spray. I am going to enjoy the lush conditions while we have them, and I will try to remind myself on a daily basis not to complain about the mud and the rain. This is a pleasant surprise for us, even though it makes working the cattle much harder to do.

We had 2" more last night.  What a mess.  Had trouble getting our heifer home from Sedalia.  Road was a mess.  Our little county is in serious trouble from the flooding.  It has wiped out alot of the rural water lines.  Thank goodness we have a well

Not a retraction just yet, still nothing here, but I just turned on the tv for the first time this morning and see OKC got as much as 8" overnight and this morning.  I do feel bad for them and those of you that have had way too much.  Seems like it's feast or famine...

OKC got that in a few hours:( They are urging us to not try to get to work, crews are rescuing people all over, roads have lakes in them. It is still coming down and "back building" right over the metro and surrounging areas. Three more days of it predicted. Harvest will be put on major hold.... just when producers were thinking it might be a good crop. Hope it stops!

I used to think we were on the wet side, until this weekend.  We delivered bulls though south central N.D., clear down near Neb.  The whole area though Aberdeen S.D and south was a mess.  Little to know crops planted, dark brown windrows of alfalfa, and still raining...  Only bright side, couldn't hardly see cows lying down out in the pastures.

It may get expensive to feed cows this winter. Pretty much here in Iowa one cutting has been lost no matter how you cut it. No pun intended.
Saturday in Des Moines the farmer's Market was called. It was the first time for us in 12 years that, that has happened except for the year of the floods. That year one week was cancelled ahead of time. It was the first time while all of the vendors were already set up that they called it. I'll be quite honest, I was getting nervous. We are right down against the Des Moines river and were trying to save our equipment in water half way up our calves. If it would have kept on raining much longer as hard as it was, we would have been in some slightly serious trouble, but nothing like what happened in Arkansas over Friday night/Sat. morning. I was thinking how could that happen and then found out just how fast things can change. Everyone try to be carefull. Things can change in a short matter of time.

Would like to know why everyone thinks were getting so much rain i personally think exploring space is what's causing most of it. I haven't seen it ever so bad as this. STOP THE RAIN.

We are about three years into the antidrought. I have quit keeping track of how much rain we have gotten because after a certain point it just doesn't make much of a difference. Oh and it's raining again. RW
