Took some pics tonight while the kids were practicing. I love this time of year!!!

The first photo is a purebred November heifer that my son loves and shows, she is a Brooks Warrior.

The second photo is our Upgrade half blood out of a good Angus cow. She is a September and owned by my middle daughter. She is going to the Arkansas regionals, and stood second in her class at the MSU Classic this last weekend, beat by the heifer that won Supreme Champion Female of the show!

The third picture is another half blood that we picked up from Oval F in the state sale in the fall (also going to regionals in AR). She also stood second, behind the reserve champion simmental and third overall heifer at the MSU Bear Classic.
The last picture is what it is all about! The kids practicing for showmanship!!! My oldest is 15, the middle is 10 and my youngest is only 8. But they all love what they do!

Thanks guys for all the great comments. I just love this time of year because the kids start getting excited about the show season. We slick everyone off (easier on the heifers and the kids!) and just have fun. We have more fun on the Saturday "blow and go" shows than the big 3 to 5 day shows, with the exception of Regional and National shows!!! It is a grand life to live... that is for sure!!

I remember what it was like when i first started showing cows. I think its awesome for kids to get ito it, they really get to learn about responsibilty and it gives you a great sense of accomplishment.  Hope they do well with their heifers!

Have fun at the Simmi junior events. I grew up in the program and those are the fondest memories I have.

Great cattle and great kids!
