Something Different - Limousin Show Heifer

I usually share some pics of my Angus cattle that I show but I wanted to share this purebred Limousin heifer we exhibited this year.  She was Grand Champion Limousin Female or Reserve Female at every show she was exhibited in MB also placing in several Jackpot shows throughout the summer.  At Agribition she was Breed Champion in the First Lady Classic Jackpot.  Owned by Campbell Land and Cattle and exhibited/managed by NYK Cattle Co.

Impressive female!! Long way from the Apple butted, straight gutted red limi's I was used to seeing around 10-20 years ago. That one would work for anyone.  (thumbsup)

What does she weigh?  She looks huge for a Limmy, but really nice all the way around.

What is her breeding and what percentage fullblood is she?  I am asking because I have also noticed some fullblood cows that aren't bad as well and are huge improvements over the early imports.
What are gojng to breed her to?

Thanks for the comments guys.  The limos have certainly come a long way from their beginnings. There definitely is a place for these kinds of limos both in the commercial world and in the show ring.

She's just around 1500lbs in that picture - by the way she was one of the lighter heifers in the show.  To truly appreciate her you need to see her from behind  <rock>

Pedigree is below.  She's a 90.8% purebred.  You'd have to go a fair ways back in the pedigree to find fullblood animals.  We have her AI'd to Cole Architect for February.  Hoping for a good calf.  Her mother looks very similar to her and was National Senior Champion Female as a 2 year old when I showed her.  Power in the blood I guess!

Here's the other limo I raised that I had out this fall.  March heifer calf that did well.  Many of the prominent breeders were checking her out and commenting how she is like a "mini me" of the yearling heifer.  She literally has the best hair I have ever worked with (clubby included).  Jet black, 3-4 inches long and just "pops".

You have plenty of confidence in her.  I aways herd that the Coleman cattle were more performance than calving ease.  He doesn't have the ussual calving eease profile. But I like the bull choice for her.  For the [eople on this board in his area she is an average sized Limo heifer nothing huge. 
If this works out I wonder how he would work on a red char cross heifer? 
Might be a decent experiemt with some of the relations cattle....

Mark - We'll let you know in a couple months whether we gambled right.  Architect himself has a low enough BW and BW EPD that we gambled and bred 30 heifers to him.  Time will tell if that was wise I suppose.  I'll let you know what the calves look like.  I bred a couple mature cows to him as well. 

You mentioned the limo fullblood cattle - certainly they have improved with time as well.  They still can struggle to get acceptable scrotal numbers and calving ease/birth weight to really break through and get widely popular in most cases.  Most of the good ones carry the horned gene as well.

2 updates. 
1. Cam Poll Bridesmaid (the heifer that I first posted) had a real nice ~80lb heifer calf off of Architect and he has worked nicely on heifers in general.  Calves look promising (sorry no pics).  Her udder looks great so we'll be campaigning the pair this year.  I'll get some pics once I have her back from breeding at the Father-in-law's place.  I will also be showing her Dam this year. What a pair of females they are!

2. I couldn't help but share this cell pic (below) of a lim-flex heifer of mine.  This is what I imagined when I started into the limo breed.  Hopefully some others can see what I'm striving for.

I'd like to see pics of the Architect calves, I have two heifer calves so far, one out of a Windfall cow that looks really nice and the other one is out of a Goal Line cow and she closely resembles a white tail fawn minus the spots.  Both were 85lbs or less.  I'll try to remember to take some cell phone pics.

1. Thanks for the comments guys.  I'm certainly proud of these girls and I believe they have a future ahead of them in both the show ring and the pasture raising bulls.

I'll get some pics of the Architect calves when I get a chance.  They've got some grow and style to them right now.  Time will tell I suppose.

I promised a pic of the Architect calves so here's one. He's a real solid muscled bull calf with above average growth, goot top and structure, but maybe more leather up front that I'd like.  We'll see how he matures.  He's out of a red purebred (the 150 cow in the 2nd pic).  The rest are at the father in law's place so I'll try to get some sooner than later.

Do you suspect the 150 coq has the diluter genes from perhaps having some Charolais blood?  He lloks greyish brown and that is what give me the throught to aske the question.  Nice bull calf and I don't thnk his front end is that bad.  For heavy front cattle see some flecks.

Mark - I don't think there's a true diluter gene in the woodpile.  Most if not all hetero black limo calves come with a grey tinge when they are younger.  Especially true if a more "fawn colored" (like his dam) red animal is in the pedigree.  Heck some of the homo black calves are kind of grey when compared to the angus calves.

As for the front end - I'm just used to the angus calves.  He'll look more balanced when he starts to mature I imagine.
