We had our first carnac this spring. Initially, I was disappointed, 78 lbs and frail looking. (It was a steer mating! I know I shouldn't complain about that kind of BW). Thought a jersey got in with them ,but he was right on the AI date. Since then, 3-4 weeks this guys really starting to mass up, top, hip has exploded and his bone, while not "exploding" is coming on as well. Chiangus dam with long "family history" (including flushes to multiple bulls) of low BW. My question ....(finally) is this typical for carnacs? Expecting more BW and mass as a newborn w/ the HW in there. Again, not complaining , I'll take a live good one over a great dead one anytime. Do they start slow and improve like this? We have some more coming. One due any day on a foreplay cow. Thoughts??? JB
