I have done some searching on this site regarding Stabilized Rice Bran and I think it would benefit my son's steer.  My son's Eye Candy steer is about 3 months away from its final show and weighs 1255 lbs.  I would say his is approximately 85%-90% finished, lower ribs and flank need more fat.  Over the past couple weeks he really has slowed down on his grain intake and seems to be getting real lazy.  I was told that Eye Candy steers are hard to put weight on after they hit 1200-1250 lbs.  Since that is a possibility and he hasn't been eating very well, I started giving him 1 block of good alfalfa every evening and some probios every so often.  Sounds like the Stabilized Rice Bran could help me get him totally finished, possibly put on a little more muscle and keep his hair healthy.  Since I have no experience with the stuff, I would like the folks that have used it to give me opinions on whether I should keep with same routine (since he still has almost 3 months before his last show) or start feeding him some stabilized rice bran.  One more thing, it might not matter but I plan to use a supplement that will add muscle similar to showmaxx 20-40 days prior to the show, if I can find something since Showmaxx isn't available anymore.

Ask VC on this site.  He recommended it to us last year and we loved it.  I think he only recommended using it the last month or so.  2 pounds a day.  My problem was finding "stabilized" rice bran.  It just prevents it from spoiling quickly.  Our steers loved it and it really does seem to help.

My brother's feed store has some called Max-E-Glo Stabilized Rice Bran and it is the meal not the pellets. I will see if VC replies, if not I will PM him.  Thanks.

We always feed it for the last 3 months, start them on 1/2 a feeding a work up to a pound a feeding, takes about 4 or 5 days. Just watch them to make sure they don't loose as you introduce or increase it. It does help put a nice smooth finish on them and unlike corn will not burn the hair off. As far as the other supplement, that is a tough one, they usually cause them to burn fat, which in your case is not want you want, I would not put them on the showmaxx type supplement if they do not have the finish you want. If I'm not mistaken the showmaxx or similar product is for the last 45 days, so if he gets to where he needs to be on finish at the 45 days out it might be okay. If he has any structure problems I would avoid the showmaxx  type supplements, it can make a tight one tighter and a strait one straighter.
You will like the results of the Stabilized Rice Bran, and I think most calves like it and eat it well.
We fed the pellets but I do not think it matters.

If you have Tractor Supply Company stores in your area, they can have it for if they don't have it stocked on their shelves already. Go to their website to find out the closest store to you.

I have been recommending Stabilized Rice Bran on SP for seven years, but not just any brand. SRB can be used anytime, and all the time as both a Fat & Hair supplement. ADM Healthy-Glo, meal is what to feed, not the pellet. There is a slight difference. Moormans/ADM was the first to introduce SRB to the Horse industry, and continues to be the best.

Compare Added ingredients and Fat with the others. http://www.admani.com/horse/Products/Horse%20Healthy%20GLO.htm

I always advise to start by adding 1/2 pound at each feeding, and work your way up to 1lb per feeding if necessary.

The feed company we get our feed from has a barley based show feed that they recommend the last few months before a show. They claim it really helps put on a nice finish and fill in some holes in a calf. We have not tried it yet because we showed a fall heifer last year but this year we have a March heifer and a March steer and will probably give it a try this year
