We recently(mid March) sold a steer who was green broke. He was fine, just needed some work to be show ready. Once at his new home, he began charging the girl and her parents. They say it is very bad. I advised tying all day and lead to feed, water. This worked for a small time but then the steer continues charging. He is OK on the lead at some times but pulls at others. He then pulled away from the girl and charged her. They say he worsens with discipline. So I said bring him to me. Once at my house he was perfect. Led well, set up, calm, submissive, easy to deal with. Acts better than some of our show string. At their house he won't eat with them there, here he let's you stand right next to the trough and is fine.
He is the only cow at their house but they have horses in the pen next to him. He has a small run in which he stays. Its small. (Maybe he's bored and taking it out on them?) This is a good family on their 4th year. They work their tail off, so its not from a lack of effort.
Any thoughts on why he is so different? The girl is now scared of him and rightly so, but he is a very nice calf and they want to keep him. Any suggestions? Another calf as a buddy is out, but they are working on a larger pen. Thanks!!
